SATS is renowned for its large-scale and highly
sophisticated Inflight Catering Centres in Asia. In total, both its centres have the capacity to produce up to 75,000 meals per day. With our award-winning international teams of chefs, we create mouth-watering cuisine to suit all taste preferences.
SATS is the first in the world to build a Simulated Aircraft Cabin that is used to test meal quality, freshness and hygiene of food under the same conditions as when an aircraft is flying at an altitude of 30,000 ft. Next to it is a well-equiped purpose-built training kitchen where our dedicated Executive Sous Chef (Training) conducts training for our in-house staff as well as airline crew.
Working in a state-of-the-art R&D centre comprising a development kitchen, R&D laboratory and sensory room, the R&D team from Catering engages in intensive research on the application of food technology in support of our new product development programme. In addition, there is a separate food laboratory where checks and tests such as microbiological tests on drinking water, raw materials and finished products, swab tests, hygiene checks and quality audit checks are being conducted. This is to ensure that the highest level of food safety is maintained at all times.
SATS’ Ethnic Specialty Kitchens dedicated to Chinese, Thai, Indian, Muslim and Japanese cuisines have assembled a host of international chefs to bring the home cuisine flavours to airline passengers of the key travel markets, making each inflight dining experience something to truly look forward to. For a dazzling array of all things baked and beautiful, SATS set up a dedicated Boutique Bakery in July 2005 to produce premium quality bakery products. SATS aims to bring to airline passengers a delightful range of bakery products to satisfy every sweet and savory tooth.
Not only are we dedicated to gastronomical excellence, we also provide a complete host of flight-related services such as menu planning, inventory control, replenishment of bar carts and amenities, and cabin handling services. SATS achieved greater efficiency and productivity gains with investments in state-of-the-art software technology such as the multi-million-dollar SAP enterprise management system. The system provides a central information resource by integrating the supply chain with our operations, from purchasing, storage and production planning to delivery. We have also geared ourselves up and ready to handle the new A380 aircraft type.
