Bob Chi is the Chief Executive Officer, APAC Gateway Services of SATS, a role he assumed on 1 October 2024 following the restructuring of the Gateway Services business.
In this capacity, Bob is responsible for growing SATS’ market share across the APAC region and overseeing operations at overseas airports, including the SATS network of international stations operated through its subsidiaries, joint ventures, and associates.
He currently oversees key markets including China, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
He also focuses on identifying and leveraging the SATS Group’s global network and operational capabilities to drive long-term business value.
Bob joined SATS in August 1988 and brings with him more than three decades of industry experience. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Services and Chief Operating Officer of the business unit. He has also held several senior leadership roles within SATS, including Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, where he was responsible for airline network marketing, key client management, and ground handling contracts in Singapore.
Earlier in his career, Bob served as Chief Executive Officer of SATS‑Creuers Cruise Services Pte. Ltd. (SCCS), where he led the management and operations of the Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore. He currently serves as Chairman of SCCS.
He has also worked across various functions within the Group, including cargo, marketing, and catering services.
Notably, he played a key role in the establishment of SATS Asia‑Pacific Star Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary providing ground handling and inflight catering services to low‑cost carriers at Singapore Changi Airport.
Bob holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Leicester and is a Public Services Scholar, having graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).
